ABOUT what the fleur…
Julia Zimmerman is the head florist behind What the Fleur. What the Fleur was conceived YEARS AGO as her side hustle, a place to share her flowery creations and passion for her craft. ‘WTF’ came from the desire for a ‘quirky’ name, and being a gal with a penchant for wordplay, the business was born. What the Fleur has blossomed and expanded over the years, and we have now set up shop in the most beautiful part of Cambridge, a dream Julia has aspired to her whole career. Our quaint shop at 23 Magdalene Street is where the magic happens - our WTF HQ. Where we send out all your fresh flower deliveries, design all your gorgeous wedding fleurs and host intimate floral workshops. The shop itself is a little oasis of creativity, with our open plan working area, customers can watch the flower arrangements come to life. The shop is bursting with colour and joy, with so many pretty purchases to peruse. Check out the gallery below for a sneak peek into the wonderful world of WTF.

Hey guys, Julia here! I began working with flowers when I was a mere teenager and still going strong 20 years on, I got some skin in the game!
Flowers are my happy place, my flow state, my ride or die. I could not imagine doing anything else. It’s long hours, hard work, sometimes freezing temperatures, but I really do believe it’s all worth it to get up in the morning and do something you love.
To have my name above a shop in a part of Cambridge that means so much to me really is a dream come true. Over the years I’ve become synonymous with my business – with people often calling me ‘Fleur’.
I hope What the Fleur brings you as much joy as it does me. It’s our flowery home and we welcome you warmly!

I came to the world of floristry a bit later in life (when I was just hitting 40 but sshh don’t advertise it). I had spent 20 years in I.T but deep down I felt it wasn’t my forever job. I did a floristry taster course in 2019 and immediately I knew this was where my future lay - I haven’t looked back since!
Despite the early starts and the deadlines nothing beats the satisfaction of being part of a Bride and Groom’s big day, visiting some amazing venues in and around Cambridge and the banter with the girls in the shop. Never without a tea in hand, I love meeting new people, so pop down to ‘What the Fleur’ and say ‘hi’.

My name’s Becci (don’t wear it out!) yes I have “good hair” but I am not that girl…. I love everything GREEN and follow my heart. Wherever that then takes me I embrace the adventure. The first thing I did after leaving school was to train as a florist and I have never looked back.
It’s not all a bed of roses but the fellow gems you meet along the way brighten any cold damp morning and keep you going when the sun sets and you are still making buttonholes.
I have an understanding husband, two crazy boys, an old stinky Labrador and can’t get enough of olives.

Hello, I’m Petrena and no good hair here! I have four incredible kids, two beautiful grandchildren, a dog, a tortoise and an unhealthy obsession with cheese & onion crisps and Pinot Grigio.
My flower filled journey began some twenty something years ago and wherever life has taken me since, I always seem to gravitate back to floristry. It somehow feels like returning home.
